WEEK 18

  1. On Why Being Good is Not Good Enough

Objective: Educators will recognize the purpose of traditional worship.

• The stages of formation of the people of Israel.

• Moral law is to align human will to God's will.

• How traditional and symbolic rituals carry meaning beyond themselves

WORKSHOP 8 OUTPUT

Workshop to be completed by participants outside of the formation setting. 80% of all worksheets and outputs are necessary for completion of program.

Visit a Catholic Church, or better yet, attend Holy Mass, and intentionally notice the items and decorations around you. Are there symbols on the altar or tabernacle? What are they trying to convey? Note the items situated about the altar. What is their traditional ritual function? How do the various postures of the priest and congregation emphasize the liturgy?

Pick one or two things you noticed, and explain how they are intended to align the participant's will with that of God's.
